Hops have been grown in Kent for centuries and the county was once one of the largest producers of hops in the country. Shepherd Neame have been brewing beer in Faversham, since the late 1500’s and was officially established in 1698!

If you love a Pimms on a hot a day in the summer time, you can thank James Pimm. Pimm, who came from Newnham in Kent, invented the drink sometime between 1820s and 1830s. The original drink used gin. There are lots of great gin producers in Kent today.

Believe it or not, the Summer’s favourite drink, Pimm’s was invented by James Pimm of Kent in the 1820s.
