Stunning Orkney is an archipelago of around 70 islands, of which only 20 are inhabited. The largest island is called Mainland, and the capital is Kirkwall. Orkney is known for its rich history and archaeological sites, including Skara Brae, the Ring of Brodgar, and the Standing Stones of Stenness. The islands are also known for its rugged landscapes, wildlife, and birdwatching.

In 1999, the site close to Kirkwall was recognized as the “Heart of Neolithic Orkney” and was awarded UNESCO World Heritage Site status. This includes several important historical sites, Maeshowe tomb, the Stones of Stenness, the Ring of Brodgar, and the Ness of Brodgar.
